The Miami Valley League (MVL) Superintendents met today to discuss the current status of fall interscholastic athletics.  Given that the current COVID-19 pandemic is going to be with us for the foreseeable future, it was decided that it is in our collective best interest to compete among MVL schools only during the regular season.  This decision will allow membership to implement protocols and guidelines for all member schools to follow and allow for a more controlled environment for the student athletes to safely return to competition.  Decisions like this are never easy but this gives our students the best opportunity to have a season, given the mandates that must be met and the uncharacteristic times we face.

Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, all MVL middle school and high school spring sports have been cancelled.  In addition, no practices, games and other events are permitted for any athletic team regardless of the sports season until further notice.

Congratulations to the Sidney Yellow Jackets boys bowling team on winning the state championship.  The boys bowling team defeated Centerville in the state championship winning all three games.  Sidney rolled through the championship bracket winning all nine of their bracket games.  What an amazing accomplishment and a lifetime of memories.  The MVL is proud!

Congratulations to the Fairborn Skyhawks girls bowling team on being the state runner-up.  The Hawks battled through some tough opponents in bracket play to get to the championship match.  They battled hard in the championship but fell just short of their second state championship.  Congratulations on an outstanding year and season!  So proud!

Thank you to everyone who came out Friday afternoon and evening to enjoy the MVL Wrestling meet in Vandalia. It was a jam-packed event with both high school and middle school competing. Butler, West Carrollton and Greenville rounded out the top three high school teams, in that order. The league championship win provided enough points to help Butler claim the 2020 overall league championship title. West Carrollton walked away with the Valley division overall championship title. Great job to all teams on a fun first MVL season. Individual state sectionals get started this week!
